Android Pay™ Payments Now Available to Alior Bank Clients!

Alior Bank is one of the first banks in Poland to launch the Android Pay mobile contactless payment service. Thanks to its partnership with Google, the bank’s clients may use smartphones to make easy and secure payments in shops and soon also in mobile apps. The Android Pay service is also available to holders of cards issued by Alior Bank’s internet currency exchange platform and clients of T-Mobile Usługi Bankowe.

Android Pay allows Android smartphone users to pay with the phone at all contactless payment terminals. Customers do not need to carry a wallet or payment card. It is an easy, fast and secure form of payment.

“By offering the Android Pay service to clients of Alior Bank and T-Mobile Usługi Bankowe, we are launching one of the most advanced mobile payment solutions on the market. We always take part in those innovative projects which provide genuine benefits to clients,”- said Wojciech Sobieraj, CEO of Alior Bank. “We want to offer solutions which address customers’ expectations including functionality, convenience, and security” - added Wojciech Sobieraj.

“We are happy to see Alior Bank and T-Mobile Banking Services among leading European innovative banking institutions providing their customers with Android Pay. Mastercard’s technology behind the solution guarantees convenience and security. Poles are very enthusiastic about innovative payment methods and I’m sure they will adapt this new way to pay in a similar way” - said Bartosz Ciołkowski, Country Manager Poland, Mastercard Europe.

To use the Android Pay service, simply download the app from Google Play™. You need an NFC-enabled Android™ smartphone, version 4.4 KitKat® or higher. Register in the app and add your Alior Bank, online cantor or T-Mobile Usługi Bankowe credit or debit card supporting contactless and online payments. You may also take a photo of the card to automatically add card data in the app.

To pay in a brick-and-mortar store, just wake your phone and put it close to the terminal. When the payment is approved, a confirmation will be displayed on the phone screen. The user gets a receipt, a confirmation, as well as a message on the phone screen showing the name of the merchant. For payments over PLN 50, the user will be requested to confirm the transaction with the card PIN, the same as for a card payment.

When shopping in mobile apps, simply select the Android Pay payment option. You do not need to enter your data and delivery address at each time as the system will automatically use your pre-defined details.

The launch of the Android Pay service follows the implementation of the Mastercard Digital Enablement Service (MDES) in Alior Bank. The platform uses tokenisation technology which replaces the payment card number with a unique string of digits (token). The solution ensures the highest security of payments. The actual card number is not provided to the merchant, and the unique token prevents payments on any other devices.

The Android Pay app can be downloaded free of charge from Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.walletnfcrel
